Back in 2018 I was working at High Fidelity, who at the time were trying to create the first true VR Metaverse much like VR Chat. My main role at the company was Operations Lead for the Marketplace, and I spent a lot of time creating example content to run on the platform. My favorite creation was the pop-up dance floor. Simply deploy the dance floor and get a party stated at a moment’s notice!
The dance floor was created with High Fidelity’s built-in assets and JavaScript-based API. First a grid of tiles are set on the floor, a couple particle systems are created to make confetti, and a few rotating lights are added. The floor tiles flash different colors and loop through a few different color schemes, some of which you can see in the images here.

Co-workers and I would often end the work day with a quick VR dance session. Although the HiFi platform is no longer around, the spirit of dance remains. You can check out the dance floor script here.
